Over the weekend an email landed in our inbox with a subject line written entirely in capitals: HALLOWEEN ELECTRICAL BEATING HEART. It came from Emeka Ogu Ejiofor, the designer behind Maysnn, and inside were photos of a costume built around a kinetic corset with an electronic heart set into it, one that actually beats, along with a handful of videos showing how the whole thing came together.
Halloween has never been a big deal for most of us here, which is exactly why the people who take it seriously stand out when they do.
Who Made It
What I like most is that Maysnn did not present it as a solo job. The beating heart came from robotics engineer @thisisekanem, the costume is worn by the muse @official_bluena, the makeup is by @marisglameffects and the images were shot by @bankzart. That is fashion, engineering, beauty and photography all working on one piece, and you can feel each of those hands in the final result.
Why We Are Sharing It

Costume design rarely gets treated as serious craft in Nigeria, and fashion and robotics almost never end up in the same room. This piece puts them side by side, and the construction videos make it plain how much work went into getting a heart to beat inside a corset.

If you are building things like this, our inbox is open and we want to see them.
