Why Am I Writing?
Why am I writing? I have no idea because I am not a writer, but I do have angry thoughts, loads of them, along with curious ones, and maybe a few disruptive ones.
Am I writing or am I venting? That’s another question. Because depending on how you look at it, being Nigerian means you’re probably angry all the time. So could this be an outlet for me? I don't know. Do I care if people read it? Not so much.
I see it as killing multiple birds with one stone:
I co-founded a writers' platform, so why am I not using it? Especially seeing as I have a reasonable amount of venting to do.
Could it be therapy?
Childhood nostalgia. I used to psyche myself up that I could write when I was young. I’d try to write magical fantasy stories, and Peter would try to encourage me. He was the only one I actually read any of it to. But eventually, I realized a nigga was not going to be great at it (laughs). So I took it no further.
Trying new things. Cause why the fuck not, right? I am absolutely not trying to impress anyone. Will I share it? Sure.
User acquisition? Lol, maybe. I can't say I haven't thought about it as a strategy that could blow up and bring users to the platform. Hey, you can't blame me. I'm a Virgo, it comes with the territory.
Yes, you will come to find I relate more with astrology than popular religion. Smart-asses might say, "So how do you reconcile that with the fact that more stars were found and the astrology calendar has apparently been shaken up?" My answer to you is simple: my programming has refused to process that information. Lol.
The thing is, religion, astrology, the meaning of life, the afterlife, and all of that, for me, none of this information is taken hook, line, and sinker. (Abi, wetin be that saying?) Life has so many questions, but not many clear, honest answers. You have to define a lot of it for yourself. But more on all of that another time, back to my list.
I guess my list of reasons is done, and with that, I bring my first post, story, write-up, or whatever we want to call it, to a close.
